LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Access Services (Access) provides curb-to-curb, shared ride paratransit service for Los Angeles County residents with disabilities, as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Access offers trips to and from destinations within 3/4 mile on either side of a fixed route bus or rail line. Access operates on the same schedule as most buses and rail lines in LA County.

Regular service is provided from 4am to 12am daily, including Sundays. Reservations for Access must be made up to one (1) day in advance.

Who is eligible for Access?

Los Angeles County residents with a functional inability to ride accessible, fixed-route buses and trains may be candidates for Access. To determine eligibility, Access conducts an in-person Transit Evaluation for each new applicant. The evaluation looks at whether the person, without the help of another, can:

  • Get to and from the bus
  • Get on and off an accessible bus
  • Understand which bus to get on and when to get off the bus

Eligibility is not solely based on disability, age, or medical diagnoses.

How much does it cost?

A one-way fare on Access is based on the distance travelled; exact fare must be paid at the time you get in the vehicle.
