Independence Day 2024 Detours

In observance of Independence Day, BBB will operate a Weekend schedule on Thursday, July 4. The Transit Store and Customer Service will be closed.  Please note that buses that do not run on weekends will not operate on Thursday, July 4.

The following events will impact our service on Independence Day:

Santa Monica 4^th of July Parade (Routes 1, 2, 8, and 9, between 5am - 12pm)
Westchester 4^th of July Parade (Route 3, between 9am - 1pm)
Marina Del Rey Fireworks Show (Routes 3 and 18, between 2pm - 11pm)
Pacific Palisades 4^th of July Parade (Route 9, all day)

Santa Monica (Main Street) 4^th of July parade

Routes 1, 2, 8, and 9 will be on detour in Santa Monica, between 5:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., due to the 12th Annual Santa Monica 4th of July Parade.

Route 1

To UCLA

The following stops will be missed:

NB Main St. at Marine St., Hill St., Ocean Park Blvd., Strand St., and Bay St.

Please use the following alternate stops:

NB Main St. at Rose Ave.
NB 4^th St. at Ocean Park Blvd., Hollister Ave., Bicknell Ave., (temporary Route 18 stops) and Pico Blvd.

To Venice

The following stops will be missed:

WB Pico Blvd. at 4^th St.
SB Main St. at Bay St., Hollister Ave., Ocean Park Blvd., Hill St., and Marine St.

Please use the alternate following stops:

SB 4^th St. at Civic Center Dr.
SB 4^th St. at Pico Blvd., Bicknell Ave., Hollister Ave., and Ocean Park Blvd. (temporary Route 18 stops)

Note: Service on Route 9 will also be impacted all day by the detour in place due to the Pacific Palisades 4^th of July Parade, the Palisades Will Rogers 5K & 10K Runs and Kids' Fun Run, and the Palisades Rock the Fourth Concert and Fireworks.

LAX Coastal City of Westchester 4^th of July Parade

Route 3 will be on detour in Westchester, between approximately 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., due to the LAX Coastal City of Westchester 4th of July Parade.

The following bus stops will be missed:

WB Manchester Ave. at Emerson Ave., Georgetown Ave., and Loyola Blvd.

Please use the following alternate stops:

To Aviation Station

The following bus stops will be missed:

EB Manchester Ave. at Loyola Blvd., Georgetown Ave., and Emerson Ave.

Marina Del Rey 4th Of July Fireworks Show

Routes 3 and 18 will be on detour in Venice and Marina Del Rey, between approximately 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., due to the Marina Del Rey 4th of July Fireworks Show.

The following bus stops will be missed:

NB Lincoln Blvd. at Jefferson Blvd. (after the intersection), Fiji Way, Mindanao Way, Maxella Ave., and Washington Blvd.

To Aviation Station

The following bus stops will be missed:

Pacific Palisades 4th of July Parade Detour

Due to the Pacific Palisades 4^th of July Parade, the Palisades Will Rogers 5K & 10K Runs and Kids' Fun Run, and the Palisades Rock the Fourth Concert and Fireworks, Route 9 will be on detour all day.

To Pacific Palisades

The following bus stops will be missed:

NB Chautauqua Blvd. at La Cumbre Dr., Borgos Pl., and Sunset Blvd.
WB Sunset Blvd. at Drummond St., Carey St., Swarthmore Ave, Via De La Paz, and Temescal Canyon Rd.

Please use the following alternate stops:

WB Entrada Dr. at Pacific Coast Hwy.
WB Sunset Blvd. at Temescal Canyon (temporary stop after the intersection)

Please note: Between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and approximately 2:00 p.m., buses will begin service on westbound Broadway at 4^th St., turn right on northbound 4^th St., and follow regular route to Pacific Coast Hwy. and Chautauqua Blvd.

To Santa Monica

The following bus stops will be missed all day:

EB Sunset Blvd. at Via De La Paz, Swarthmore Ave., Carey St., Drummond St., and Pampas Ricas Blvd.
SB Chautauqua Blvd. at Borgos Pl., and La Cumbre Dr.

Please use the following alternate stops:

EB Sunset Blvd. at Temescal Canyon Rd.
EB West Channel Rd. at Pacific Coast Hwy.

Please note: Between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and approximately 1:00 p.m., buses will detour again at 4^th St. and Santa Monica Blvd., and turn left on Santa Monica Blvd., right on 7^th St. and end service on southbound 7^th St. and Olympic Blvd.
